Hepple Wilds Wild Gin & Forage Day

Join the team at the Hepple Estate for a nature-focused tour of their wilding project, with a special foraged twist. The hills around Hepple have been gently managed for wildlife and farming for decades but since 2020 they are now fully focused on building ecosystem health and encouraging biodiversity and are now welcoming small mixed and private groups to visit
The day will include an introduction to the estate and Hepple ethos before a 3hr-4hr professionally guided walk of the estate with a special focus on the natural goods that we can smell, and taste, from Hepple itself. A simple lunch is included and, weather allowing, will be taken outside. The walks are intended to be interactive and immersive with expert guide Richard showing you the best of what Hepple has to offer. That being said, wildlife is just that – wild! We cannot guarantee wildlife sightings but the team will do their best to give you a taste of the wilderness, and also show you where the tastes of Hepple Gin come from.
Following the walk, or prior to, we will take a tour of the Hepple Gin Distillery, home to the Hepple Spirits Company. Hepple has been producing gin since 2014 using fresh ingredients from our hills but the distillery is not generally open to the public. Included in this event is a tour of our delightfully minute but high-tech distillery and a professional tasting. There will be the opportunity to purchase spirits direct from the distillery.
Please note that this event includes periods of rough walking. Please come prepared. Sturdy boots, a warm coast, possibly waterproof trousers are all worth bringing – if you can leave them in the car so much the better! The weather in the Upper Coquet valley can be very changeable so please come prepared for anything.
The tour will go ahead whatever the weather but if the forecast ahead of the event does look especially awful or hazardous, we will contact you to offer a full refund or a booking on an alternative date.
